John Paul Micallef is an award-winning Film Director working across scripted narrative and the Luxury Fashion and commercial space.

He is currently in pre-production on his debut feature, The Audition, which is to begin filming in Los Angeles early 2027.

John Paul’s short film Ask the Girls in Cairo racked up over 2 million views on Nowness as well as winning Best Short Film at the Los Angeles Film Awards, four awards at the World Independent Cinema Awards and Best Director at the Mirada Corta Festival in Mexico City.

His previous short film, Not Your Muse, starring Adèle Farine, won Best Short Film at the Rome Short Film Festival.

Other Films and Commercials have been nominated at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival, Venice Short Film Festival, Paris Lift-Off Film Festival, New York Fashion Film Festival, London Fashion Film Awards, Dubai Indie Film Festival and the Berlin Commercial Film Festival.

John Paul’s journey began as an actor, training at the prestigious Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin.

He then moved to New York City, where he has spent the last 15 years working mostly in Luxury Fashion.

He has created over 60 covers for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and has worked with talent such as Irina Shayk, Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Joan Smalls, Milla Jovovich, Alessandra Ambrosio and Jessica Alba.
